The Happiest ~ The Grace Between

The Happiest

Sometimes, when I am this happy, I think it’s not even fair to other people, no one could possibly be as happy as I am.

Sometimes, in these moments, I am so desperate to stop time, or to slow it down so much that it moves in little sparkly wavy drips. Recorded in flashes of colors. Music notes. Quiet times. I think I feel like maybe if I dig my heels in, put my back to it, my arms out, I can keep this wave of time passing, of life happening, from crashing over me so fast that I miss these moments. Or fail to note them.

Anyway, we had the crazy Wedding Weekend Road Trip last week. It was so fun? exhausting? funny? relational?….and so worth it to see my dear heart friend K. Stewart (now K. Willis) get married. (Only two people in my life at this point I’d schlep these kids 2200+ miles across the country to stand up for.) I’m always misty eyed at weddings. Especially so at this one because of the bride. To know her heart, her journey, to see her marry her best friend. I’m doubly emotional because we had a wedding album feast this evening at our sans kids social event.

I know I’ve said this before but the best thing about weddings is seeing them on this happiest of days, and knowing they have days coming that will outshine their wedding, that will fairly ooze with joy. Or days where they pick up the pieces and love each other so hard. I was in love with Pete on April 30th, 2005. I look at the pictures and I had no idea how much I would love him, could love him more each year. Each hard thing. Each happy thing. On a day like today, a happier day, a happiest of days.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Willis.
