Goodbye Kansas, Hello Tennessee .... ~ The Grace Between

Goodbye Kansas, Hello Tennessee ….

**If you are new here, or haven’t visited in a while, or just want to know what is going on without having to read my ramblings …. we just moved to Clarksville, TN, courtesy of Uncle Sam and the needs of the United States Army.**

We are definitely not in Kansas anymore.

(I have been d.y.i..n.g. to use that line. And not because I wanted to leave Kansas, but just, well, because.)
We officially moved yesterday. Closed on our house today. Painted J Girl’s room a lovely shade of purple this afternoon.
People kept asking me (in Kansas, because we don’t know anyone here yet …. ) how I was doing.
So here’s the answer.
I don’t know. (I say overwhelmed a lot).
Logistically speaking, this is the easiest move we’ve had to date …. (and I am frantically knocking on motel plasti-wood as I type this).
And I am really very excited about SO many things here …. (ummm can we say …. new house!! decorating!! …. ) but leaving Kansas, and the community of Oak Hills was h.a.r.d.
It was a new kind of hard. We were blessed, and loved well by people who barely knew us. That speaks volumes to the body of Christ.
I really struggled with my goodbyes this week. I grieved for what could have been. I knew we had barely scratched the surface of so many relationships …. and yet …. those shallow grooves, carved by the body and fed with astonishing grace …. sustained me over the year ….
…. grew my soul.
I cried a lot over the last eight days, but truly, they were tears of gratitude for the blessing, the gift, of our Kansas friends.
Saying our goodbyes meant we had the privilege of saying hello.
So thankful for the hellos.
~M.
P.S. Bear with me …. have lots of hard things and fun things about Tennessee, and moving,  to tell you about tomorrow …. they can co-exist. And also, we have a new address. Email will be forthcoming … or contact me if you want it 🙂
