Thankful

Dear Kansas . . . I love you.

It seems I can remember specific occasions over the course of my adult life where I have stated vehemently or otherwise, “I would never live in Kansas.” It’s too flat, boring, conceptual, landlocked, etc. Or some variation thereof. And so, because we serve a relational and emotional Creator, who I personally believe has an impeccably timed, perfect (he he), sense of humor, I am in fact, living in Kansas. And as it turns out, I like Kansas. It’s not Alaska,...

I Am Not My Own (Thank goodness!!!)

This year in the spiritual life of our family is becoming (quite accidentally but providentially) the year of catechism. Our new church home is teaching the Westminster Shorter Catechism in Sunday School, both to P. and I, and to little J. Fortuitously, we are also learning the children’s catechism at home through song. It is my utmost goal to live each day permeated with the grace, thanksgiving, and joy that comes only from knowing...

Important Lessons . . .

I haven’t decorated my house for Christmas in two years. Suffice to say I am desperately attempting to keep it reigned in. I am a wee bit over excited . . . there are some firsts tonight-the main one being my first normal sized live tree (that I purchased and set up BY MYSELF whilst six months pregnant) and a real live “bull in the china shop” tearing around our living room (I am referring to J. in case that...
