I have been dragging this out and I don’t really know why …..
Hello Tennessee!
We have so much to be thankful for already ….
We l.o.v.e. the house. We have been working day and night to get it put together and my dear sweet husband has been churning out furniture at a prolific rate. So grateful for him …. although he did tell me he was terrified to paint anything for me because he didn’t want to mess it up.
Terrified. Okay, so I am a teeeeeensy bit uptight about the painting.
The neighbors! The neighbors directly across from us have a daughter J Girl’s age, a son a year older, and a five month old baby. They immediately befriended us and fed us several times over the course of the last two weeks and we are becoming fast friends. Husband has a running buddy …. who likes to hunt and fish.
Our next door neighbor on the left is an elder at the PCA church. Seriously. We love them already.
Which brings me to the church … Christ Presbyterian. We have only been once (about to head out this morning for the second time), but we are greatly encouraged by what we have learned about the heart and vision of this body of believers.
In the church there are a large number of homeschoolers. After much prayer and consideration, we will be homeschooling J Girl this year but I am beyond nervous at the prospect. I am so very excited to have local support and resources to draw on. Also, they have a program called classical conversations which I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to participate in.
Old friends nearby …. we both have a set of old friends in close proximity …. excited about Nashville, live music, and reconnecting.
Hmmm, let’s see, what else.
Oh, the farmer’s market. Fresh local produce … choices! No offense Leavenworth Farmer’s Market. Peaches to die for ….
And the Rotary Park near our house. Woods and a creek. (Stocked with crawdads, water skeeters, minnows, and water moccasins.) Couldn’t ask for anything else.
So that’s just a few of our favorite things, for now …. stay tuned, I am in need of parenting prayers!
Love to you all. Sometimes I just desperately wish we could move our friends and family around the country with us ….
I tried pictures, but my fancy lens for close-ups doesn’t work so well in large rooms:) So, Mrs. B and Mrs. M, not so fancy iphone pictures coming soon. I wish you were here …. I am having decorating dilemmas ….
~M.
aw! wish i was there to help solve those decor puzzles!! but….SO happy to hear all your joyful news! SO happy about your neighbors to- what a blessing! miss the h’s!
Nashville sounds like a nice place! About painting, just dive in and do it, you can always paint over it if you don’t like it!
That’s good news, Molly. Is it the Christ Presbyterian on Old Hickory? My aunt and uncle, a cousin, and my dad all live in the vicinity. I think my cousin even went to school there many moons ago, but not sure if it’s the same place. Also, some of our dearest friends moved to Nashville not to long ago – she’s the 10 pm anchor on the local abc news and her husband is a musician (fiddle, violin, mandolin, etc). He’s an amazing musician. If I get a heads up on some of his gigs, I will let you know. He was just playing in Leaper’s Fork a few weeks ago at a great venue. Enjoy Nashville – it’s such a great place!
