Anchored, Book Launches, and My Friend Kayla Aimee ~ The Grace Between

Anchored, Book Launches, and My Friend Kayla Aimee

Hello friends. It’s been eleven days of much-needed rest here. We spent a week and change at the beach, just our little-ish growing family spreading out over the sand and the waves. Only the second time in ten years we took a vacation that didn’t involve visiting family (which we LOVE to do, but sometimes need time to invest in just us!)

Anyways, I still owe you part four of moving, which I have been turning over in my sleep-deprived, pregnancy addled brain for weeks now and still don’t quite know how to write it down. Working on it. Also, grandparents and other various and sundry family members-I will post vacation photos soon, I promise.

But today, today I want to do something new for me. My friend, Kayla Aimee, she wrote a book, Anchored: Finding Hope in the Unexpected.  And I want you to read it. Buy it, then read it.

Here’s the thing. I’ve never done this before. There are so many good words, by so many people and it is HARD to sift through them all and then tell you, absolutely without a doubt no kidding you have to read this! So, until now, I have shouted on no rooftops about no books.

I belonged to an (in)courage group with Kayla for some time before I met up with her in real life at Allume in 2013. It’s a long story for me, and maybe one I will tell another time, but the end result of our conversations together left me with the impression of someone overflowing with grace, encouragement, and humility, when I didn’t necessarily deserve it. Plus, SHE IS SO CUTE. (I hope it’s okay to say that about a grown woman, please don’t be mad at me KA, but it’s true.)

I began to follow her writing a little more closely, and then, I read this and my breath caught with the beauty of it. I knew then that I wanted to hear the stories she told, and when I knew her book was a real live thing,  I knew I would get on here and tell you to read her story – one that really begins 24 weeks into a long desired pregnancy and fighting for her daughter’s life.

With vulnerability and plenty of wit, Kayla lays bare her struggle to redefine her faith, her marriage, and herself within the context of a tragedy she never saw coming. For anyone who has felt their faith in God falter, Anchored extends a gentle invitation to join her as she uncovers a hope that holds. ~ From www.anchoredhopebook.com.

See that part I highlighted – that is pieces of my story too. And I’d be willing to bet it’s true for so many of you as well. Different details sure, but the beauty of our hope is in a gospel that is Truth for all the stories.

The gospel is The Story, and it is told and retold in the unfolding of our lives.

And I’ll just say it, it’s not just her story that matters to me, it’s the story-telling that sinks into my soul with grace and bits of the gospel and stays there long after.

This girl, she is a storyteller.

So buy it. Read it. AND GUESS WHAT ELSE.

(And look, she even made me a pretty print out of MY VERY OWN WORDS. A big deal for me because I do not do the graphic design – in over my luddite head on that one.)
