This is a somewhat schizophrenic collection of some of the things I’ve (or J and I) have made recently. We are super random. but honestly, the main reason I am posting these is (1) to say thank you to M. Chappell (the kid craft book is AWESOME and is the impetus for the felt notebook and the–not pictured–paper mache dinosaur and alligator clothespin); (2) Express how incredibly excited I am over being almost finished with J’s quilt; (3) Gush a little more over what a craft genius my sister L. is; and (4) Give you some crafting insight? lessons learned? from my recent adventures.
1. Thanks M. Chappell. We love love love the book and have a craft to do list from it growing rapidly
2. J’s quilt is almost finished!!! I started over a year ago, have run out of fabric at least twice, and redesigned it more than once.
3. My sister L. is a craft genius and the original designer of the tamale wreath.
4. (a) Paper mache was invented by the devil and sent from the depths of hell to torment parents everywhere.
(b) Paper mache makes REALLY cute dinosaurs.
(c) When you’ve never made a quilt before, probably not a good idea to choose a quilt made from 8″ blocks consisting of 33 pieces of fabric EACH. (For a grand total of 63 blocks consisting of 2,079 TINY pieces of fabric cut out and then sewn together.)
(d) When making a quilt out of 2,079 pieces of fabric, buy enough fabric.
(e) When you use the spare sheet set to whip up a duvet cover, buy another spare sheet set.
(f) As much as I heart Mod Podge (And I do), it simply will not hold up against J. Get stronger glue. Get cement. Or glitter glue. Lots of glitter glue.
(g) Every object (and persons) for that matter, belonging to this family will carry a thin layer of glitter for the foreseeable future.
I know I should put these on Pinterest but I am afraid once I really get engaged on there, I won’t resurface for a year:) Soon. I will get there soon. More projects are coming, I have a whole stack in the basement craft studio waiting on their finishing touches. In the meantime, PICTURES. (Sorry the photography is less than stellar. Working on that.)
