A journal application I was using asked me if today was a “day of note”.
Why yes, yes it was. In two ways.
For me, in this stage of my life, it was an actual day of note. I taught J phonics by telling her that the letters were prince and princess and the sounds were getting married. (Totally worked, btw). Wee Man ate yogurt and a banana today, there was an epic water balloon fight in the back yard, we had dinner together as a family AND had family devotions afterwards (which unfortunately is not as regular as we’d like it to be . . . the devotions, not dinner) And by 8:20 pm, both sweet kiddos were in bed asleep, and P was getting homework done. One day out of 365 but as previously mentioned, in this stage of life, one day is good. Call it a win, call it bliss, call it parenting success (as opposed to parenting fail), call it a day of note.
But . . . as momentarily gleeful as I am, I want to look at every day as a day of note. A day to show visible love to my children, to be a helpmate to my husband, to know and make known the astonishing grace of God, to practice patience, to be full of eucharisto, to be glad. I’m checking that box every day. . .
So yes, today was a day of note . . . and it’s incumbent upon me to note it.
